When you see the term “excludes government charges” on our pre-owned vehicle listings, this refers to mandatory costs imposed by the government—not a fee added by Kalamunda Toyota.

These charges are payable after purchase, when the vehicle is licensed or the registration is transferred into your name in Western Australia.

The charge, known as stamp duty, is collected by Driver and Vehicle Services under the Duties Act 2008. It is a one‑off payment calculated based on your vehicle’s gross mass and dutiable value.

In addition to stamp duty, buyers throughout Australia may also encounter other on‑road costs. These typically include:

    • Registration fees
    • Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance
    • Occasionally, dealer delivery or ownership transfer fees

These costs are separate from the vehicle’s advertised price unless stated otherwise.

    Here is a brief breakdown:

    • Registration: required to legally drive your vehicle-varies by location.
    • Stamp duty: a mandatory tax paid to your state or territory government when licensing or transferring a car.
    • CP insurance: compulsory in all states, covers personal injury liabilities and is included with registration.

At Kalamunda Toyota we aim for transparency. Unless we clearly state otherwise, advertised prices will not include these government charges. We encourage you to contact us for an accurate, all-inclusive drive-away price tailored to your location.
