Toyota has unveiled the GRMN Corolla - the ultimate expression of the GR Corolla. Built from Toyota's real-world motorsport experience and validated at the Nurburgring, the GRMN Corolla arrives in Australia in 2027 with 408Nm of torque, a two-seater cabin, dedicated aero components, reworked suspension, and a 40kg weight reduction over the standard GR Corolla.
Numbers coming to Australia will be limited. For drivers in the Perth Hills who follow what Toyota's GR programme produces, this is worth registering interest in now. The GRMN Corolla represents the clearest line yet between what happens on a race circuit and what Toyota puts in its showrooms.
GRMN stands for GAZOO Racing tuned by the Meister of Nurburgring. It is Toyota's highest designation within the GR performance hierarchy - reserved for vehicles that have been developed and validated at the Nurburgring circuit in Germany, one of the most demanding stretches of road in the world.
The GRMN philosophy traces back to Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda, who races under the name Morizo. His directive is that any car bearing the GRMN name must be able to run the Nurburgring properly - not simply complete a lap, but perform at the level the circuit demands. That standard shapes every engineering decision made on the GRMN Corolla.
For buyers already familiar with the GR Corolla, the GRMN represents the next step. Where the GR Corolla is a driver's car built for the road with track capability, the GRMN Corolla is a driver's car built from the racetrack down.
The GRMN Corolla starts with the same 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine as the GR Corolla but the engineers have not left it there. Torque has been increased by 8Nm to a total of 408Nm, while peak power remains at 221kW. The result is a powertrain with sharper response and more usable performance across a wider rev range.
Forty kilograms have been removed from the kerb weight compared to the manual GR Corolla. In a car of this size and power output, 40kg is meaningful - it changes the way the car responds to steering input, how quickly it rotates through corners, and how it feels when you ask it to stop.
The suspension has been completely reworked with dedicated monotube shock absorbers and rebound springs at both ends. The AWD control has been recalibrated to distribute drive torque with greater precision during hard cornering, and the electric power steering has been retuned for more accurate feedback under high lateral loads. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres are 10mm wider than those fitted to the GR Corolla.¹

The GRMN Corolla is a two-seater. The rear seats have been removed entirely in favour of a cockpit concept that puts the driver and passenger at the centre of everything. The heavily bolstered front bucket seats are positioned lower than in the GR Corolla, allowing the driver to wear a race helmet without touching the roof.
The instrument panel is unique to the GRMN and the interior carries GRMN-specific design details throughout. This is not a cabin that has been modified for comfort - it is a cabin that has been designed around the experience of driving quickly and with purpose. Every element exists to support concentration and connection to the car.

The GRMN Corolla did not arrive via a traditional engineering programme. The aerodynamic and suspension components were developed directly through Toyota's participation in the Japanese Super Taikyu race series, where a hydrogen-fuelled GR Corolla provided the real-world data and learnings that fed back into the GRMN's development.
This is the GR brand's philosophy made tangible. Toyota does not build performance cars and then go racing - it races and then builds performance cars. The knowledge earned at circuits like the Nurburgring and in competitive racing series becomes the foundation for what arrives in Australian showrooms.
Validation was also carried out using the latest driving simulators, allowing engineers to accumulate test data at a pace and volume that physical track testing alone cannot match. The GRMN Corolla is the result of both worlds - physical and digital development working together.
The GRMN Corolla is visually distinct from the GR Corolla. Bonnet and fender ducts, a front side spoiler, and a large rear wing with a five-step adjustment mechanism are all unique to this model. Each adjustment position on the rear wing alters the downforce balance, giving the driver the ability to set the car up differently depending on the circuit or the conditions.
Two exterior finishes are available. A matte black option and a new khaki colour, with the khaki being exclusive to the Australian and North American markets. For Australian buyers, that exclusivity carries weight - the khaki GRMN Corolla will not be seen anywhere in Europe or Asia.
