Toyota has unveiled the new 2025 HiLux, a ute designed and developed with Australia at its core. With stronger styling, smarter technology, and a focus on comfort and capability, this new generation is set to raise the bar once again.
The 2025 HiLux looks every bit as tough as it performs. Its bold new exterior was led by Toyota Australia’s design team and built on a theme called “Cyber Sumo” — modern, powerful, and unmistakably HiLux. Slim headlights, a wider stance, and sharper lines give it a commanding presence on the road, while improved aerodynamics and structure add both strength and efficiency.
Step inside and the upgrades are just as impressive. The cabin has been completely reimagined with a new three-tier dash layout that improves forward visibility and a larger, flatter design that feels more open. Every grade now features a digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Climate control has been simplified with large, easy-to-use buttons, while newly developed seats provide more comfort on long drives or off-road adventures. Higher grades add premium finishes, powered driver’s seats, and even a heated steering wheel.

The new HiLux introduces electric power steering for the first time, giving drivers lighter control at low speeds and improved stability at highway pace. The suspension has also been retuned, with two setups available — one tuned for heavy-duty load carrying and another for everyday comfort and off-road adventure. The result is a smoother, quieter, and more refined drive that still delivers the strength HiLux is known for.
Toyota has equipped every 2025 HiLux with the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite, including updated autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane trace assist, and road sign assist. New features like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a cabin detection alert system add even greater peace of mind for drivers and passengers. Owners will also enjoy Toyota Connected Services, allowing them to track their vehicle’s location, check its status, and access helpful information from their smartphone.

Alongside the proven 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine, the 2025 HiLux introduces 48-volt technology for improved fuel efficiency and smoother stop-start performance. And for the first time in HiLux history, an all-electric BEV variant is on the way in 2026, joined by a hydrogen-powered FCEV planned for 2028. These options will give drivers and fleets more choice to match their lifestyle and sustainability goals.
The 2025 HiLux combines the reliability Australians have trusted for generations with the innovation needed for the future. Built, tested, and refined for our conditions, it continues the HiLux legacy as the ute that works hard, drives smart, and lasts the distance.
