The Next-Gen RAV4 Is Coming — Here’s What You Need to Know

Toyota has officially announced that the next-generation RAV4 is on its way—and for SUV drivers across the Hills, it’s big news. As one of Australia’s most-loved vehicles, the RAV4 has long been the go-to for families, commuters, and adventurers alike. And now, Toyota is taking it to the next level.

Toyota Australia's First PHEV

For the first time in Australia, the RAV4 will be available with a Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) powertrain. You’ll have the choice between:

  • 2WD PHEV with 201kW output
  • AWD PHEV with a powerful 227kW system and 0–100km/h in just 5.8 seconds
  • Up to 100km electric-only range, perfect for local commutes
  • Fast charging: 10–80% in around 30 minutes (DC), or approx. 3 hours with AC

Whether you're heading into town or up the escarpment, the new RAV4 PHEV blends powerful acceleration with fuel-free convenience.

Smarter Hybrids Still Leading the Pack

Prefer a self-charging hybrid? The updated 2026 RAV4 will also offer refined 2WD and AWD hybrid options, using Toyota’s next-gen hybrid systems to deliver 143kW combined power with excellent fuel efficiency.

Introducing The GR Sport Model to the RAV4 Line Up

Meet the sportiest RAV4 yet. The new GR Sport model brings motorsport-inspired upgrades to the range, including:

  • Exclusive PHEV AWD performance
  • Wider track and stiffer suspension for dynamic handling
  • GR badging, black 20-inch alloys, sport seats and red interior accents

It’s designed to stand out—and built for serious drivers.

A RAV4 That Thinks Ahead

Inside, the RAV4 has gone digital—with Toyota’s new Arene multimedia system, giving you:

  • Faster, smarter connectivity
  • Customisable home screens and voice control
  • Google POI search and real-time navigation
  • Over-the-air updates to keep features current

Plus, more cabin space thanks to smarter system layout, making every trip more comfortable—whether it’s a school run or a weekender in the South West.

Safety First, and Second

Toyota Safety Sense has also levelled up, with upgrades that include:

  • Front cross-traffic alert
  • Blind spot monitor with rear vehicle approach alert
  • Turn signal-linked lane change assist
  • Advanced parking assist via smartphone
  • 360° panoramic view monitor for easier parking in tight Kalamunda spots

It's the most intelligent and protective RAV4 yet.
